Bariatric Evaluations

If you are a candidate for bariatric (weight loss) surgery, you will likely be referred for a psychological evaluation. This is routine and usually recommended by your surgeon, hospital, and insurance provider. Your entire surgery team of physicians, nurses and dietitians want you to maximize your success. The psychological evaluation will identify strengths and areas where you might need support.

Your evaluation will include psychological testing and an interview to discuss your history. Results of the testing are usually discussed during this time, and the psychologist will want to know about your family, social history, any medical or psychological concerns you may have, and your motivation for seeking the surgery. Appointments are promptly scheduled and the report will be completed with 2 to 3 days. Please let Dr. Rodarte know if you are a fast track patient.
